Happy New Year everyone!
I hope you all had a joyous Christmas. Ours was busy and full of delicious food with lots of family time.
At the beginning of 2019, I set myself some goals for the year and checked in every 3 months with quarterly reviews. I didn’t post a final review for the final three months of the year as I wasn’t thinking about my goals at the time. I had surgery which didn’t heal for about 7 weeks and then I found temporary work which ended sooner than expected when the company went into liquidation a month before Christmas. After doing my own version of Blogtober, I did a 180 degree turn and barely blogged at all for the remaining two months of the year. In all honesty, I began to struggle with my body image and I felt like I couldn’t write about ditching diet culture when all I wanted to do was restrict.
What happened in 2019?
I think we all know that the biggest and best part of my year was bringing Clover home.
But 2019 was also filled with other key events. I completed and passed my Masters degree in Psychology. I moved from the vibrant city of Newcastle to a tiny village in Buckinghamshire. I blogged more regularly than ever and I bought my first car.
So what are my hopes for 2020?
2020 isn’t just a new year, it’s the start of a new decade. When I think about the year ahead, I automatically think about the next 10 years too. Will I be married with children? Will I work as a counsellor? Where will we be living? How many dogs will I have? Will I still be blogging?
However, I don’t want to get ahead of myself, so let’s focus on 2020 for now. I think I put a lot of pressure on myself to grow in a certain way rather than organically during 2019, so I’ve decided that, this year, I’m not going to write quarterly reviews every three months.
I also don’t have many goals for this year. On a personal level, I’d like to re-establish some kind of routine like I had at university where I meditate and exercise regularly.
My main goals are quite big which is why I’m not very focused on other things:
- Buy our first home.
- Begin working within the field of Psychology.
As a student I’ve spent the last 7 years moving house every year. I’m quite a domestic-orientated person and I’m fully ready to start building my own nest. Let’s hope I’ll be able to write the “We bought a house!” post sometime soon!
Now tell me about your year! What was a highlight or key event? What are your plans for 2020 or even the next decade?! Let me know in the comments below!
