Back in January, I put a tweet out asking if people wanted an ‘About Me’ post and if so, to drop some questions. I put the same on Instagram and some lovely people sent over some questions! I thought it would be fitting to include this as part of my month of self-love as it allows me to be reflective and celebrate myself! So let’s start answering questions from Twitter and Instagram!
What made you want to work to become a psychologist? @msblife_
So, specifically, I want to be a counselling psychologist, and I first learned about counselling and therapy through the Lindsey Lohan film – Freaky Friday! In the film, Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays the mum, is a therapist with her own private practice. She has a beautiful, clean office where she sits with her clients and talks them through their problems.
For some reason, this really appealed to me and since learning more about psychology and ways to help other people, having my own private practice has been the dream!
@DayTay_ asked two questions:
Why did you start blogging?
I love writing and I’ve actually had 2 blogs before this one, one of which I started nearly 10 years ago, that I never followed through with. (I see the success of some bloggers who were more committed and I wonder if I had been more motivated, would I be a full-time blogger by now?)
I also find it very therapeutic writing my thoughts down and sharing them with others. It’s nice to get people talking about topics and creating a community.
What do you hope 2020 will bring for you?
First and foremost, a house, although this feels very optimistic at the moment. I’d also like to continue with my current posting routine. Since January, I’ve been really consistent with two posts a week and I’d love to continue this throughout the year. I’m hoping to be consistent with posting weekly YouTube videos too!
Apart from that, I’m trying not to have too many expectations for this year. A lot of changes are ahead for me and I’d rather keep level headed and chilled, rather than expect too much.
What do you enjoy most about being a blogger? @XemmatweetsX_
I love connecting with people and hearing that the things I’m discussing on my blog are helping people in a positive way. I’ve had some feedback from my disordered eating posts and it’s nice to know that my readers feel less alone.
@Earthand_Water asked a whopping four questions!
What does your diet look like?
I am a firm believer of intuitive eating so I eat what I want, when I want, as long as I’ve got it in my kitchen! My breakfasts are pretty much the same – either granola, banana and yogurt/milk or egg on toast. I find lunch really stressful (I don’t know why) so I prefer having leftovers from dinner. Dinner is usually fish and veg, or pasta, or rice. We try to eat lots of vegetarian meals although this varies week to week. My post on what I ate in a week will give you a good indication of what my meals are like!

What sort of routine do you recommend for self-care?
If you haven’t seen it already, go check out my Month of Me calendar which is a FREE resource for practising self-love and self-care!
I honestly believe that you should pick activities that make you feel good about yourself and provide a positive experience, and implement these into your schedule in a realistic and consistent way. What makes you feel relaxed? What makes you happy? Do more of what you love!

What’s your most impactful piece of your lifestyle?
I thought that this was a really interesting question and, of course, it had to be Clover. My day revolves around her routine so my lifestyle has definitely changed since bringing her home.

She has also changed my mindset dramatically too. Before I got her, I felt an incredible weight on my mind which disappeared the second that we set off in the car to collect her. Research points towards dogs as being very good for our mental health and I can 100% agree.
Where is your dream destination?
Australia or New Zealand are both at the top of my travel bucket list. The way of life there is very appealing to me but I worry that if I visit, I’ll love it so much that I’ll want to stay!

What inspired you to start blogging? @get.the.margarita
Long-time readers will remember that my blog used to be called Enchanting Moments but I never felt like this way my blog’s real name. I always new I wanted to connect the mental health aspect to dog therapy, as well as self-care, so as soon as I brought Clover home, I rebranded to Take a Paws.
Blogging is basically my way of sharing the messages that I believe in with the people that I connect with. I’ve seen how people who work online can influence their audience and I’d love to be able to do the same in a positive way! I want my readers to come away from my blog feeling better about themselves or at least have some kind of escape whilst they’re here.
