Last night, we went out for our first meal of the holiday in Gozo. Gozo is the sister island to the more commonly known holiday destination of Malta. My mum and dad are regulars at this restaurant, due to its great views and delicious food.
Rangers Bar is a local bar and restaurant, home to the Gharb Rangers football team. Locals and tourists alike enjoy this place for its great selection of beer, homemade recipes and welcoming vibe, typical of the Gozitan ways.
We reserved one of the best tables in the house on the roof terrace with a beautiful view of Gozo. The church you can see in this picture is called Ta Pinu and is well worth a visit if you ever make a trip to this stunning island.
For starters, I ordered bruschetta, my mum and dad ordered parmigiana and my grandma ordered mushrooms in a creamy white wine sauce. All were super tasty and full of flavour. The mushrooms weren’t on the menu exactly as you see them here but my grandma really likes them in a sauce with cream so the owners were kind enough to cater for her.
For the main course, my dad and I ordered the tagliatelle special which came with vongole and tail-on prawns. I asked for a starter portion which is the image you see here. My dad ordered a main portion and had, at least, double the amount of food compared to mine. My mum ordered the seabass which came with roast potatoes and vegetables and my grandma ordered spinach and ricotta cannelloni.
Again, we were all very happy with our meals. The flavours in the food were amazing. The only slight issue my dad and I had with ours were tiny bits of shell from the vongole which had been caught up in our pasta but even that didn’t take away from our meal, it was just annoying.
By the end of the main course, we were all too full for dessert but that night they had apple crumble, Gozitan trifle and banana cheesecake cups on the specials board.
We had a great evening together at a lovely restaurant that we all highly recommend.
