New House Tour!

It’s been a long and slow process but we finally have the keys to the house that we are going to be renting! I thought it would be fun to show you the new house tour (check out the YouTube video!) and talk about how I want to take this small empty space and make a cosy home for two.

You’ll have to forgive the funky pictures. Due to the rooms being small, I thought it would be better to use the panoramic option on my phone camera.

Kitchen

The kitchen is my favourite space and I love how much light there is. Although the kitchen needs to be functional, I’m also going to add little succulents in bright pots to bring some colour to the room, as well as candles and photographs.

Living Room

The living room is first room that you walk into when you come through the front door. Again, it’s not a huge space so I’m putting a large L-shaped sofa in front of the TV to make a cosy corner. We found some shelves in one of the bedrooms so we’ve put that in the living room. I want the shelves to be half useful and half decorative so I’ll keep some of the dog’s things there plus photographs and candles.

Our Bedroom

The two bedrooms are almost equal in size but we chose to have the room which faces the back garden. This is because our garden is south facing so we will get more light, plus this room is also shaped better. There’s not a lot of space for furniture so we’re thinking of putting the bed, bedside tables and my newly painted chest of drawers in here.

The house was advertised as unfurnished but there were wardrobes left when we got the keys so we’re going to ask them to take some away.

Spare Bedroom

Ideally, we would like to be able to fit a sofa bed into this room but we also have a huge sliding wardrobe and James’ simulation gaming seat that needs to fit into this room. We’re going to have to play around with the furniture and see what works best so stay tuned to see how this room turns out!

Bathroom

The bathroom is quite small but as there is only two of us, it shouldn’t be an issue. I’m so happy that we finally have a bath again. I’ve missed taking a long hot soak once a week to really relax.

Garden

I completely forgot to take a picture of the garden BUT you can see it in my house tour YouTube Video! The garden is a perfect size, big enough for Clover to play in, small enough that it’s a nice size to tend to. We’ve got a shed (which has a wasp nest in it – eeek! Don’t worry, it’s being removed) and a small patio area for a two-seat garden table. Again, the garden is south facing so we’ll really enjoy the coming summer days.

Now that you’ve seen the empty new house tour, I’m really looking forward to making this a home and showing you the finished house tour! Fingers crossed that our furniture is delivered soon so that we can fully move in!
