Quarterly Year Review #3 + BLOGTOBER!

Pinch, Punch, it’s the first of the month!

This year, I have decided to do Blogtober as I’ve been feeling in a bit of a rut with my writing and I wanted something to pull me out of it! I won’t be posting every day, more like every other day, as I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself.

I’ve got some lovely posts planned that I’m looking forward to creating – food content, Halloween and lots of Autumn themed ‘favourites’! I hope you’ll enjoy them!

As it’s the first of October, it’s time for my third review of the year! Let’s see how I’m getting on!

Finished and Pass my MSc in Psychology

I did it! The thesis is done! I’m waiting for my results and I’ve also been accepted as an accredited psychologist with the British Psychological Society. Just call me Charlotte Smith MBPsS.

It may come as no surprise that I still haven’t started this yet! I only finished my thesis in September and then we went to Cornwall for a week and then I needed surgery which I wasn’t expecting. I’ve been in bed most days since then but I’ll definitely pick up pen and paper when I’m feeling better!

Meditation goals

Although I haven’t been meditating regularly, I’ve been using my breathing techniques to help with being at the hospital and getting my dressing changed. On the day of my surgery, I could feel myself passing out when they were administering the cannula so I focused on my breath and counted to 10 over and over again until the feeling passed. I’d love to start doing my yoga again regularly when I’m back on my feet, but for now, my breathing is enough for me.

Get a job

Now that I’m accredited, this is hopefully something that will happen soon! I keep applying but as I’m looking for a very specific position of Assistant Psychologist, it might take me longer than if I was just looking for any job in general.

Read 30 books

This year has been a slow year for reading. I’m currently reading Rule Britannia by Daphne du Maurier but I just don’t feel motivated to read often at the moment. I’ve got lots of books that I have bought or been bought, I just need to perk up and find my reading mojo again.

Visit my best friend in France

Tick. Check. Checkaroonie. We had the BEST week together. Eating, drinking, trying bubble tea for the first. Exploring Toulouse and just relaxing and spending time together. If only every week could be like that!

Get stronger

My fitness has taken a back seat in recent weeks. If you haven’t noticed by now, my thesis took over my entire life. I didn’t blog, I didn’t work out, I didn’t read for pleasure. But I’ve put workout equipment on my wish list with the intention of getting back into the swing of things.

Try more recipes

In my last quarterly review, I said I would aim to try a new recipe every fortnight and blog about it. This was a bit laughable, considering my thesis deadline. I have been trying new recipes, I just haven’t had the time to create food posts. Another one to add to the next goals list!

So there we have it, another 3 months have flown by! Stay tuned for Blogtober!

How is your year going? What goals have you set for yourself? Let me know in the comments below!
