The 3 best places to eat in Newcastle!

This week, I left Newcastle after 4 years of fun, laughter, an undergrad degree and a postgrad degree.

As I’m a complete foodie, what better way to mark the occasion than to share my 3 favourite places to eat in my favourite city. I’ll be sad to say goodbye, especially as these fantastic places are not chains that you can find anywhere.

Newcastle is full of amazing restaurants but I managed to pick my top 3 and I hope you love them as much as I do.

  1. Arlo, West Jesmond.
This place, in my opinion, is best for breakfast and James and I discovered this place soon after we started dating. They also serve at lunch and dinner but we adore their breakfast menu. James would usually order an eggs florentine and I love their veggie cooked breakfast which comes with halloumi, mushroom, avocado, beans, tomato and toast.IMG_7995

  2. The Great British Cupcakery, Quayside
    Best for coffee and cake.
If you want to indulge in sweetness, this cafe is everything you need. The parlour serves all sorts of baked goods, from toasted teacakes to afternoon tea but I highly recommend you share if you want to try more than one thing. The portion sizes are very generous so when Arielle and I went, we shared a milkshake topped with everything chocolatey you can imagine and a piece of cake. I’ve always wanted to go here for afternoon tea but unfortunately I never got round to it.IMG_8004IMG_8005IMG_1556
  3. Dabbawal, City Centre & West Jesmond
Newcastle has two Dabbawal restaurants, probably due to high demand! James and I think this place is best for dinner. We’ve been quite a few times and the food is amazing. We love going out for Indian food and I think this is the place we’ll miss the most. The flavours are incredible and the menu has lots on it. We managed to fit one last trip to Dabbawal into my final weekend!

To get the pictures for this post, I spent a lot of time walking across town and it made me realise how much I still have left to discover in Newcastle. I’m quite sad to be leaving but also looking forward to starting a new chapter, living with James. I’m sure there will be plenty of new restaurants to seek out in our new area and I look forward to sharing them here, with you, on this blog.
